Paul played bass for Eddie & The Hotrods before leaving to join The Damned in 1980.
He left to join UFO in 1983 until the UFO disbanded in 1987. In 1989, after playing with Heavy Load and Fastway, he rejoined The Damned.
In 2020, Gray formed Wingmen with guitarists Baz Warne (The Stranglers), Leigh Heggarty (Ruts DC), and drummer Marty Love (Johnny Moped).
